Who We Are.
Defenders Union of Colorado (DUC) is a wall-to-wall union, established in 2022 to collectively address critical issues in our workplace. We share the same core values as our employer, the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender (OSPD), as well as public defenders everywhere: to provide the indigent criminally accused with effective, zealous, inspired, and compassionate representation.
We are passionate about our jobs and fighting for our clients. We embrace the fundamental premise that sustainable working conditions will allow us to better serve our clients. Our working conditions are our clients' justice conditions.
We strive to address systemic workplace problems and seek solutions, such as increasing worker retention, equitable wages, implementing improved DEI practices, and maintaining ethical caseloads. Through the power of our collective voice, we can raise awareness about our common struggles, find creative solutions, and increase public funding and support.
Stand with us.
